Health workers go unpaid for 14 months
Koraput: Over 100 Health workers posted in community health centres of Koraput district since October 2013 have claimed that they have not received salaries for the past 14 months due to fund crunch.
“We were appointed against regular vacancies. We got salaries in February 2014, four months after the posting, and that was the last,” said S.K. Patra, a Health worker of Nandapur hospital.
He said the Health workers on Monday submitted a memorandum to the additional district magistrate over non-payment of salaries.
Officials said 56 auxiliary nursing midwives, 19 general nursing and midwives and 43 male Health workers were appointed in October 2013.
“The postings were made in accordance with Indian Public Health Standards guidelines. Recently, we received funds to pay them a month’s salary and they will get it soon,” said chief district medical officer Laxmidhar Kabi.
