Mumbai-bound GoAir flight makes emergency landing after bomb scare

Nagpur/Bhubaneswar: A Mumbai bound Go Air flight from Bhubaneswar made an emergency landing at Nagpur following a bomb scare today.

As many as 155 passengers were on board out of which 123 were from Bhubaneswar. All of them were quickly deplaned soon after the flight landed in Nagpur.

The flight G8-243 had taken off from the Odisha capital at 8.20 a.m. and after getting the bomb threat was diverted to Nagpur in Maharashtra where it landed at 9.29 a.m.

Later, the authorities confirmed it was a hoax after the plane was checked and no suspicious object was found on the plane. After the relevant security clearances, the aircraft was permitted to depart at noon for the onward flight of the private carrier to Mumbai.

Meanwhile, security checks have been intensified on flights at the Biju Patnaik airport after the incident.
Airport authorities said a person identifying himself as Mohapatra called the officials informing them about the presence of a bomb inside the flight. According to preliminary investigation, the caller was from Bhubaneswar.

Police launched operation to trace the caller’s address.

“Three calls had come between 8.41 and 8.50 am from a BSNL network. Efforts are on to find out the caller”, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi said
