WB Minister’s brother found dead in Bhubaneswar hotel

Bhubaneswar:  A day after Gopal Dasgupta, the brother of West Bengal Agricultural Marketing Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Tapan Dasgupta, died under mysterious circumstances in a hotel in Nayapalli area in Bhubaneswar, his family members on Tuesday demanded for a detailed investigation as they suspect he was murdered.

Gopal’s nephew Sujay Nandi, who arrived in the city today, said that his uncle had checked in Hotel Bari International on Sunday in connection with some business related works with one PK Mishra.

“Mishra had taken a loan of around Rs 6 lakh from my uncle but instead of repaying the money, he had been fooling him for the last two years,” Nandi said.

Nandi further informed that his aunt had talked with Gopal at around 4 pm and suddenly after half an hour they got information that he died.

On the other hand, police suspects that Gopal had died of heart attack.

Preliminary investigation reveals that Gopal had visited a private hospital near the hotel in the afternoon and brought some medicines after he complained of chest pain.
