Ward member poll candidate found dead with throat slit

Narayanpatna: In a horrific incident, a ward member candidate was found dead with throat slit in his house at Kanagaon village of Bandhugan block in Koraput district.

The victim identified as Kameswar Palaka was a poll candidate from ward number 1 of Kanagaon.

Palaka had lost the panchayat ward member elections by just five votes earlier on Sunday.

His brother Someya Palaka while briefing to media persons said Kameswar went out of the house at around 7 pm in the evening yesterday but they did not see him returning.

“He lost the elections by 5 votes. I did not know if there was any rivalry of Kameswar with anyone. We only saw his dead body today morning,” he said.

Following the discovery of the incident, police recovered has body of Kameswar and initiated probe into the case.
