Odisha gang flees with Rs 6.5 lakh cash bag

Sivaganga: Three persons hailing from Odisha on Saturday allegedly robbed Rs 6.5 lakh from two employees of a construction firm near here but one of them was arrested later, police said.

The employees had withdrawn the money from the Bank of Baroda at Pachary in Sivaganga district and they were on their way to Kalayarkoil when the gang pushed them from their two-wheeler and snatched the cash bag.

They tried to escape on the two-wheeler but the locals chased them and managed to nab one of them. He was handed over to police.

A team has been set up to trace the two other gang members who fled with the money meant for paying workers, police said.
