Another fake edible oil producing company seized in Cuttack
Cuttack: A fake edible oil producing factory operating near Jagatpur truck terminal was busted in a midnight raid by the Commissionerate police in Cuttack.
As many as 100 tin cans of fake mustard and refined oil were seized during the raid.
Inspector-in-charge Biranchi Pati of Jagatpur police station led a team of cops and seized the adulterated items.”We conducted the raid after getting a tip-off. The operation is still on and we will only be able to give full details after complete verification,” said Pati.
The factory used to sell the spurious oil especially under the brand name Ruchi Gold. While the operation is still underway, police have detained factory owner Anadi Charan Behera from Mangalabag area and is interrogating him.
In a similar incident, police on April 30 raided an edible oil godown at Nuasahi near Khannagar area of Cuttack on charges of adulteration and seized more than 300 oil-filled containers.
The cops had detained two persons, including the owner of the godown for interrogation.
During the surprise raid, containers, bottles, plastic packets of different brands and machines used for packaging of oil were seized from the spot.
