OSRTC Bus Services On 25 Routes In Rayagada, Jeypore Suspended As Maoists Observe PLGA Week

The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) on Thursday suspended government bus services on six routes in Rayagada and 19 of 24 routes in Jeypore as Maoists observed People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) week starting today.

The banned CPI (Maoist) began their PLGA week in the State today which will continue till December 8.

Earlier, the CPI Maoists (Basadhara-Dhumusara-Nagabali Division Committee) had declared the celebration of PLGA week from December 2 to December 8 by sticking posters and throwing pamphlets in Kalyansinghpur area of Raygada District.

As a precautionary measure, the government bus services have been suspended in six Maoist-dominated routes of districts which include Chandrapur, Brahmapur, Kashipur, Thuamula Ramapur, Dangapadar and Narayanpatna.

Meanwhile, the Odisha police has sounded a high alert and stepped up combing operations in the Naxal-hit areas of the district, anticipating the chances of violence.

Man Trampled To Death By Elephant In Odisha’s Sundargarh

A man was trampled to death by an elephant in Kusumundi village under Koida forest range of Sundargarh district on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Karam Singh.

As per the sources, Singh was attacked by the jumbo while he was sleeping in his house.

The elephant gored and dragged him several meters causing his death on the spot, said the source.

On getting information, Koida police and forest officials reached the spot and have initiated an investigation.
