The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued ‘Red Warning’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha under the influence of a cyclonic storm which is likely to develop in the Bay of Bengal around December 3.

As per IMD, the possible cyclone would reach Odisha- north Andhra Pradesh coasts in the morning hours on December 4. At present, the system lies as well marked low pressure area and it is likely to intensify into a Depression in the next few hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri and Jagatsinghpur on December 3.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next five days:

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 03.12.2021) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.12.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 04.12.2021)

Yellow warning ( Be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati with heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.12.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 05.12.2021)

Red warning (Take action): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls (more than 20 cm) over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur.

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapada, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Malkangiri.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.12.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 06.12.2021)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Puri.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Ganjam and Gajapati.

Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.12.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.12.2021) Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha.
