Snakes appear to be getting more creative when it comes to finding hiding locations like toilet bowls, shoes, toys, warm vehicle engines….you name it!

In the most recent instance volunteers rescued a 4-feet long venomous cobra which had its head stuck in an empty beer can.

Sounds strange, but the bizarre incident took place in Madhipur village under Balanga police limits of Puri district, when a resident, Jitendra Mahapatra, discovered a distressed cobra struggling and writhing in pain after getting its head stuck into a metal drink can in his backyard.

On receiving information, Snake Helpline general secretary Subhendu Mallik and one of the team members, Sushant Behera, reached to the spot and rescued the reptile by cutting open the can.

In a video of the rescue operation, it could be seen that the snake had sustained minor injuries.

Last month, a man in Baruha area of Jajpur district received the shock of his life ,when he spotted a venomous snake in the bonnet of his car. The snake was later rescued by the snake helpline members.
