As many as 33 students of a Plus 2 residential college in Kunjakanta under ward No 2 of Dhenkanal Municipality have tested positive for COVID19.
Following the detection of the positive cases, Dhenkanal Collector Saroj Kumar Sethy has declared Kunjakanta area as Containment zone for a period of 10 days from December 1 to December 10.
“The restrictions applicable to containment zones as per guidelines of H&FW Department shall be implemented & it will be enforced/monitored under the direct supervision of the Sub-Collector & Empowered Officer, Dhenkanal,” the order stated.
However, the Collector has decided not to declare buffer zone adjoining to containment zone.
The vehicular movement, both public and private, has been prohibited in the containment zone excluding the vehicles permitted for supply of essential items, medicines, medical emergency, health surveillance, sanitization and other necessary activities to be undertaken by District Administration/Executive Officer, Dhenkanal Municipality.
Similarly, all the shops and business establishments irrespective of the scale and size in Containment zone will be closed with immediate effect.
The supply chain of medicine and other essential items will be kept uninterrupted by the Executive Officer, Dhenkanal Municipality.
All inhabitants of the Containment zone will stay indoors and this is to be followed without deviation. Violation will invite strict penal action as per Disaster Management Act-2005 and Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 & Covid-19 Regulations- 2020, the order added.
