Infosys founder Narayana Murthy has created a stir on social media after suggesting that youngsters should work for 70 hours every week. While several CEOs and big shots including JSW Chairman backed Murthy’s suggestions, Narayana has been facing severe backlash on social media.

Social media users slammed the billionaire for seeing his employees as robots and making profits while Infosys has not even raised the salary for almost a decade now.

Meanwhile, a Bengaluru-based cardiologist identified as Deepak Krishnamurthy opined against Murthy’s long work hours and revealed why youngsters are getting heart attacks.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Deepak wrote, “24 hours per day (as far as I know), If you work 6 days a week - 12h per day… Remaining 12h, 8 hours sleep, 4 hours remain, In a city like Bengaluru, 2 hours on road, 2 hours remain - Brush, poop, bathe, eat, No time to socialize, No time to talk to family, No time to exercise, No time for recreation, Not to mention companies expect people to answer emails and calls after work hours also. Then wonder why young people are getting #Heartattacks?!”

He also urged the government to increase the number of jobs so that unemployment will be curbed and the youth can work less hours and have a life.

Social media users fully agreed with Dr. Deepak and shared their opinion in the comments section.

“To say the least, this will lead to cardiac issues, stress related complications, mental & psychological problems, divorce, parental issues, anxiety and so on. Well, he is suggested to follow the famous advice of “be the change you want to see.” Start with family!” a user commented.

Another user wrote, “Instead of asking people in the job to spend their life, more hobs shoukd be created and spread throughout the country. Why everyone has to go to Bangalore or Pune/NCR? Why can’t these corporates can bring jobs to rural india?”

“Mr Narayan Murthy won't talk about creating more Jobs coz his company will have to Pay extra $$ Instead he wants His employees to Work as slaves on a meager salary, Hypocrisy at its finest, I am very Happy I am In Product Based Company & not in a service based one!” commented a third user.
