If you are an employee, a portion of your salary is deposited into the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) every month.

When the need arises, you can withdraw money from your PF account to meet emergency expenses like medical bills, education expenses, marriage expenses, or even for repairing your house.

Previously, withdrawing funds from your PF account was a time-consuming process that required you to visit a bank or PF office.

However, the Indian Government has launched a new mobile application called UMANG that allows you to withdraw funds from your PF account while sitting at home.

Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to use UMANG to withdraw money from your EPFO account:

Linking your UAN to Aadhaar:    

To withdraw money from your EPFO account through the UMANG app, you will need to login.

  • Open the UMANG app on your mobile phone and log in using your mobile number.
  • Verify your mobile number by submitting the one-time password (OTP) sent to your mobile number.
  • Once you have successfully verified your mobile number, here you can access all the feature that provided by the UMANG applications.

Withdrawing funds using UMANG App - Follow the below steps to withdraw money using the UMANG apps:

  • Open the UMANG app on your mobile phone and log in using your mobile number.
  • Select 'All Services' from the drop-down menu and look for 'EPFO.' Alternatively, you can search for EPFO.
  • Select the Option called 'Raise Claim' from the drop-down menu.
  • Submit your EPF UAN number to generate an OTP.
  • Now enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Select the type of withdrawal and fill in the required details.
  • After successfully submitting the request, you will receive an acknowledgment slip or a claim reference number. You can use this reference number to track the status of your withdrawal request.

Other Features of UMANG App

Apart from withdrawing funds from your EPFO account, the UMANG app also offers other features like requesting a pension withdrawal, a COVID-19 advance, and accessing the employee's passbook. You can also request a scheme certificate, UAN activation, and allotment through the app.
