Informing about the steps taken to get such posts deleted, Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda said, “We have social media cells in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to keep a tab on the offensive posts on social media platforms. The cell in Bhubaneswar alone has issued notices to various social media platforms to take down as many as 249 social media posts. These posts include 68 Facebook posts, 144 Instagram posts and 37 X posts.”

“We have so far received four public complaints regarding such posts and the rest have been found out by our team,” he said.

“Our social media cell monitored 110 social media accounts actively. We have also issued a WhatsApp number. If people register their complaints using that number or through email, our process would be more fruitful,” he added.
