The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday hit out at the Odisha Revenue Minister for criticizing their previous government over the Mahanadi water issue.
Launching a fierce attack on Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, BJD leader Pratap Deb termed the former’s statements as unfortunate.

“The central government was forced to constitute the Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal after the Odisha government moved the Supreme Court. There are BJP governments in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and the centre. There is triple-engine government now. So, the row should be solved permanently without any excuses,” said Deb.

At the same time, the BJP was quick to respond to the BJD.

“We are condemning the fake drama the BJD is playing now. We request it to play its role as a responsible Opposition. The BJP will save and conserve the water resources of Odisha effectively in the coming days,” said Sajjan Sharma, state BJP’s spokesperson.

On Wednesday, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari had targeted the BJD accusing it of not making any special efforts to solve the dispute, nor submitting any report to the Central Water Commission.
