The mystery behind the death of Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the sensational lady teacher Mamita Meher murder case, furthered deepened in secrecy on Wednesday after an envelope was recovered from the deceased’s pocket ahead of the post-mortem of his body.
Addressing a press conference, Odisha BJP general secretary, Prithviraj Harichandan said, “Gobinda Sahu’s death seems to be a conspiracy which can be termed as the witness-wiping drive by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).”
The High Court accepted the SIT investigation and deemed a CBI inquiry as unnecessary.
Speaking to OTV, DIG Mishra said, “Prima facie, this seems to be a case of blatant negligence by the jail warder. The jail has an area of 2 acres and it is not easy to keep an eye on everyone all the time. But the warder should have watched Sahu’s movement in the jail.”
Out of the 16 bank accounts, 4 accounts have been verified so far, in which Rs 4 crore deposits have been traced.
