Even though the incident occurred on Friday evening, it came to light on Saturday after the terrified victim's family lodged a police complaint.

As per reports, a person knocked on the doors of Sushant Khara’s house on Friday evening. When asked, he said he was a delivery boy. He then told Sushant that he had a parcel for him. When Sushant opened the gate, he and his three associates forced their entry into the house by pushing Sushant to the side.

They then looted gold jewellery worth around Rs 7 to 8 lakh and cash of around Rs 7,000 and fled from the spot. Before leaving the spot, they not only threatened the family members with dire consequences if they informed the police but also snatched Sushant and his wife’s mobile phones.

As asked, the terrified Khara family didn’t inform the police on Friday night. However, they informed the Umerkote Police on Saturday afternoon.
On being informed, a team from the Umerkote Police Station visited Sushant’s house and launched a probe.

According to Sushant, the miscreants were interacting in broken Hindi, Odia and a local tribal dialect.

“At knife and gunpoint, they asked me to hand over the ornaments. During their stay, they attempted to kill me four times. They took my mangalsutra, chains, rings and bangles,” said Anupama Das, the complainant.

When contacted, the police refused to say anything as the investigation was underway.
