Highway robbers unleash terror in Keonjhar, snatch woman’s gold ornaments after firing

Unidentified masked miscreants unleashed a reign of terror on National Highway-20 near Ghasipura in Keonjhar district. The latest victim to the high-profile gang of looters’ was a woman and her parents who were looted of all their gold ornaments.

According to sources, the family was returning home after attending a marriage function when the incident occurred. Hiding in the forest, the looters intercepted the woman passing the Belbahali bypass with her elderly parents on a two-wheeler.

They first assaulted her father and snatched the bike key. In a bid to threaten the family, the miscreants also opened three rounds of fire in the air. Later, they snatched the gold ornaments of the woman and her mother and all the money they had.

The looters escaped into the forest after locals rushed to the spot after hearing the firing sound. 

On being alerted, Ghasipura police rushed to the spot and launched a probe. A case was registered in this connection and a manhunt has been launched to nab the miscreants, said police.
