Bhubaneswar: The National Food Security Act (NFSA) was rolled out in 14 districts of Odisha in first phase on Friday.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik launched digitised ration card distribution under the Food Security Act to beneficiaries at a function in Bhubaneswar while ministers distributed the same in different districts.
Talking to mediapersons at the function, Food Supply minister Sanjay Das Burma, who was present during the launch, said, “Transparency has been maintained in preparing the list of beneficiaries. Errors, if any, regarding the beneficiaries can be corrected within 3 months.”
From November 1, beneficiaries will be able to get foodgrains at subsidised prices through the digitized ration cards.
Notably, a total of 3.26 cr beneficiaries will be eligible for rice and wheat worth 5 kg each at Rs 5 and Rs 3 per kg respectively every month under this programme.
