Koraput: Jeypore MLA and Odisha Congress chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati created ruckus today at a Zilla Parishad (ZP) meeting in Koaput alleging corruption.
Bahinipati was seen ransacking the desks while shouting slogans at the meeting venue alleging corrupt practices in various development progammes for the State.
Amidst the ruckus, the meeting had to be cancelled in between.
According to sources, Bahinipati arrived at the venue minutes after the meeting began. After arriving at the meeting hall, he began protesting and questioned how the meeting had began without the presence of the opposition party leader.
Subsequently, he made allegations of corruption within the administrative mechanism of the district and irregularities in various developmental schemes which are being implemented in the State.
Soon after he began ransacking the place and throwing various things from the table on to the floor.
After coming out of the meeting room, Bahinipati said that all the government officials right from the BDOs to all the other officials are taking bribe. For every work they are charging 22% bribe he said adding that though various irregularities have been brought to the notice of the Collector no steps have been taken.
Reacting to such behaviour, BJD leader and former Jeypore MLA Rabi Narayan Nanda said if there have been irregularities, then he (Bahinipati) should bring it to the notice of the vigilance department rather than creating a ruckus at a meeting. Moreover, his allegations that the meeting began without the opposition is totally baseless as he himself arrived 2 hours late, Nanda added.
