Bhubaneswar: In good news for registered constriction workers, the Odisha government has decided to provide a monthly pension of Rs 500 to all registered constriction workers above 60 years of age in the State.
Besides, the State government has decided implement housing scheme for the registered construction workers in rural and urban areas of the State soon.
A decision in this regard was taken at a high level meeting at State Secretariat here which was chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, the chief minister directed the officials to implement the pension scheme by November last and housing scheme for the workers by December this year.
So far 11 lakh construction workers have registered with the government. The government has set a target to increase this number to 25 lakhs in next three years, sources said adding that Odisha government has provided Rs 80 crores for the construction workers during 2015-2016 financial year.
