Bhubaneswar: With just days to go for the 100th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister and freedom fighter Biju Patnaik, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday formed five committees for a successful year-long birth anniversary celebrations of the legendary leader both at the state and national levels.
The five committees include Biju Patnaik Birth Centenary Committee, coordination committee, souvenir and documentation committee, Committee for national and international coordination, organising committee and coordination committee.
BJD sources said, former minister Ved Prakash Agrawal has been nominated as the convenor of the Biju Patnaik birth centenary committee, Dhenkanal MP Tathagata Satpathy has been named as the convenor of the coordination committee.
Tourism minister Ashok Panda has been appointed convenor of the souvenir and documentation committee while School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra will play the role of convenor of national and international coordination committee. Surya Narayan Patra has been nominated as convenor of the organising committee, party sources revealed.
Biju Patnaik Birth Centerary Committee includes senior leaders like V Sugnana Kumari Deo, Surendranath Nayak, Damodar Rout, Dhaneswar Majhi, AU Singhdeo, Mangala Kisan, Prasanna Acharya, Prasanna Patsani, Padmanabha Behera, Prafulla Samal, Jayram Pangi, Pramila Mallik and Amar Satpathy.
The organising committee includes, among others, Pradip Maharathy, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Kishore Mohanty, Bishnu Das, Balabhadra Majhi, N Bhaskar Rao, Rabinarayan Nanda, Prabhat Biswal, Sarojini Hembram and Hrushikesh Nayak.
