Jajpur: Four people were injured in an attack on Thursday by a wild bear suspected to have strayed into the town from Pattaranga forest last night.

The wild bear started attacking passersby soon after it was spotted near Chorada square in Jajpur Road at around 9 am today.

When a mob chased the bear, the animal entered into a drain in front of the Old Police Station. Locals, police and forest department personnel placed iron rods in front the opening of the drain holding the bear captive.

The district administration requested the Nandankanan zoo authorities to catch the wild bear.
