A yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning has also been issued for several districts as per the forecast issued by IMD on Saturday.
A total of eight sunstroke patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Odisha with Angul alone reporting five such patients.
The IMD has also issued an orange warning for hailstorms in 5 Odisha districts. The alert has been issued for Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Cuttack.
"Be cautious. Watch for symptoms like dizziness, disorientation, or warm, wet skin. These could indicate cardiovascular distress from extreme heat," Pankaj Chaudhary
As per the MeT department, the maximum temperature is likely to be 39 degree C to 41 degree C in the interior parts and between 36 degree C and 38 degree C in coastal districts of the state.
It is good Samaritans who try their best to ensure that animals and birds do not face problems in getting water and food during the scorching heatwave conditions.
As per the prediction by Regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, several places in the State may witness rain and hailstorm under the effect of Nor’wester on April 7-8.

As per reports, the heatwave condition is likely to continue for two more days with the day temperature likely to increase up to three degree Celsius.
The districts that have been issued yellow warnings till April 6 are Bolangir, Keonjhar, Boudh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh and Angul.
There will be a gradual rise in the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) by 2 to 3°C during the next 3 days at a few places over the districts of Odisha and no large change is expected thereafter.
The maximum temperature is likely to be between 39 degrees and 41 degrees C at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha and between 36 to 38 degrees C over the coastal districts of Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days
The India Meteorological Department has warned that parts of India will witness extreme heatwave conditions during the months of April, May and June.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that normal to below normal maximum temperature is likely over some parts of western Himalayan region, North Eastern states and north Odisha during this hot weather season.
