 At a time when several parts of Odisha are reeling under intense heat wave conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted a drop in maximum temperature after 24 hours.

The IMD has also issued an orange warning for hailstorms in 5 Odisha districts. The alert has been issued for Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Cuttack.

Apart from this, a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning has also been issued by the IMD.

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 07.04.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Nayagarh, Bolangir, Malkangiri, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Boudh.

Warm night condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 08.04.2024)

Orange Warning: Hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khordha, Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Nayagarh.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 09.04.2024)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Kalahandi.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.
