The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and lighting activity over several districts of Odisha for the next few days.
A weak monsoon condition is prevailing over most parts of Odisha. In the month of June, the state witnessed an average cumulative rainfall of 181.3mm.
In the next two days, most parts of the state barring a few places will experience dry weather. However, the rainfall activity is likely to increase in the state with the progress of the week.

A cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and its neighbouring areas will cause heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha. Currently, the Southwest monsoon is active over Odisha.
Several parts of Odisha are set to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall activities for the next three days from today under the influence of a low pressure area formed over the south Jharkhand and neighbourhood.
With the cyclone Yaas getting closer to Odisha coast, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued Red Warning to eight coastal districts of the State for May 26.
