Odisha is likely to witness heavy rainfall in the next 4-5 days. The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha. As per the IMD Centre, a cyclonic circulation currently lies over south Odisha and neighborhood between 0.9 and 2.1 km above mean sea level.
However, the trough from the cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and neighborhood to south Odisha has become less marked. Starting from June 26 afternoon till June 27, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and Ganjam.
The districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur will experience thunderstorm and lightning during the same period.
Similarly, from the morning of June 27 till June 28, thunderstorm and lightning activity will be seen at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput.
While there is no warning for the next two days (June 28 till June 30 morning), light to moderate rain or thundershower is expected at a few places over the districts of Odisha. However, again in the subsequent 24 hours (from June 30 till July 1), heavy rainfall is likely to lash few places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak, the MeT centre has predicted.
