Daytime temperature also remained above 36 degrees in 10 cities of the State in the last 24 hours. Titlagarh remained the hottest city with 38 degree Celsius on Sunday.

A yellow warning of a heat wave has been issued for some places in Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh and Angul districts for two days from Tuesday, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre said.

Vehicular movement was also affected in the Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri and other parts of the State. Motorists were seen having a tough time due to the foggy weather conditions, said reports.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activities in different districts of the State from February 24 onwards.

The Met Centre also said that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj on February 24.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a trough runs from east Bihar to east Vidarbha across Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh at 0.9 km above mean sea level. However, the cyclonic circulation over Madhya Maharashtra and neighbourhood has become less marked.

The minimum temperatures observed an appreciable rise at a few places over north interior Odisha and at one or two places over south interior parts of the State in the past 24 hours.

The Weather department said that the minimum temperature is likely to gradually fall by 3 to 5 degree Celsius during the next three days in the State. However, there will be no major change thereafter.

The minimum temperature is likely to gradually fall by 3 to 4 degrees from February 11 over several parts of the State under the influence of western disturbance.

As per the latest weather bulletin, several parts of the State may experience cold conditions as the minimum temperature is likely to fall by three to five degree Celsius during the next two to three days. However, there will be no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha.

The weather bureau has also issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for thunderstorm and lightning in several districts of the State.

Several parts of the State will experience dense fog in the next 48 hours. Apart from this, there is possibility of light to moderate rain, thunderstorm in several parts of the State.

Apart from thunderstorm and lightning alert, the IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar also predicted hailstorm in seven districts- Sundergarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Cold wave conditions continued to sweep several parts of the State with mercury plummeting below 10 degree Celsius in at least 10 stations of Odisha in the last 24 hours.

The Met Centre also issued yellow warning for cold wave conditions over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar tomorrow.
