The IMD on Tuesday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning in several parts of Odisha.
As per IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, the cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Sri Lanka coast has become less marked.
The Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha and light to moderate rain / thundershower has occurred at most places over the districts of coastal and interior Odisha in the past 24 hours.
A ‘yellow warning’ for thunderstorm and heavy rainfall has also been issued by IMD’s Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Even though there will be no considerable change in the maximum temperature (day temperature), several parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm activities during the next 4 to 5 days.
As per IMD’s Regional Centre, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur in 11 districts of the State in the next 24 hours. A yellow warning for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh districts have been issued.
As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
As per IMD, light to moderate rain/ thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam in the next 24 hours.
In a tweet, the Regional Centre informed that the maximum temperature in several parts of the State is likely to come down by two degrees due to Nor’westers.
As per IMD, several districts in the state will experience rain and thundershower activities till April 21. This is likely to provide some respite to people from scorching heat wave conditions.
The IMD has issued a ‘yellow warning’ for thunderstorm and lightning activities in seven districts of Koraput,Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Khordha in the next 24 hours.
As per IMD, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh in next 24 hours.
As per IMD, several parts of the State- Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Sambalpur and Kandhamal- experienced lightning in the past 24 hours.
