The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued thunderstorm and lightning alert for several Odisha districts.

As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked. Several parts of the State experienced light to moderate rainfall and thundershower activities in the past 24 hours.

Some districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.

Weather Forecast: Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 24.05.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Cuttack.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal. Similarly, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack and Dhenkanal.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput.
