The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a warning for thunderstorm and lightning in 11 districts of Odisha. The warning has been issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Rayagada.

“The trough now runs from the above cyclonic circulation over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh to Nagaland across Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. The cyclonic circulation lies over East Madhya Pradesh & adjoining Chhattisgarh and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level,” said IMD.

As per IMD, several parts of the State- Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Sambalpur and Kandhamal- experienced lightning in the past 24 hours.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Rayagada.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.02.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 27.02.2022)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh and Kandhamal.
