Vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who led India in the last T20-I series against New Zealand, will lead the ODI side in Rohit's absence, Shah said in a release on Sunday.

India captain Rohit Sharma suggested that the team might stick with Rahul or any other player who has potential and give them more opportunities to improve.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir, who is currently a part of the Border-Gavaskar Commentary panel, on Sunday revealed that Rohit Sharma was the only captain who troubled him the most in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In another tweet, BCCI wrote, “Rohit Sharma leads from the front with a magnificent century. This is his 9th century in Test Cricket.”

In reply to Australia’s first innings total of 177, India rode on a brilliant half-century by Rohit (56 no, 69b, 9x4, 1x6) to score 77 for the loss of one wicket at stumps of day one.

The hilarious turn of events has left the internet in splits. The skipper himself admitted that he forgot what he was actually decided to do on winning the toss.

The right-handed batsman scored his double century in just 145 balls and brought up the feat with a massive six at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. 

A senior police official said the matter is being pursued with Twitter.

Rohit’s indication and intention has not gone down well with several fans.

Both Kohli and Rohit took breaks from white ball cricket after the T20 World Cup and that does not seem to have gone down well with Gambhir.

Rohit became the first Indian batter in the history of cricket to hit 500 sixes in international cricket during the match.

In his absence, vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has taken over the captaincy duties.

Skipper Rohit Sharma doesn't want to clutter things by "thinking too far ahead" about the ODI World Cup and said he and head coach Rahul Dravid have a "fair idea" of how they would approach the showpiece to be held in India in October-November next year.

Although, India suffered a humiliating defeat in the T20 World Cup Semifinals, the right-handed batter's impressive performances has left fans in awe of him.

It's been nearly a decade since India won an ICC trophy. The cause of it is not their performance but rather the mistakes they consistently commit throughout every tournament, especially in the knockout stages.
