In connection with duping a Balasore resident through honey trap, the Cyber Wing of Balasore district police have arrested a Nigerian couple from New Delhi and seized a car and two laptops from them.

Posted in Jodhpur as a gunner, Pradeep Kumar was in contact with the woman agent of the Pakistani intelligence agency, he said, adding that the gunner was arrested after his movement was kept under surveillance for several days.

On September 15, a special squad of the Balasore Police led by the Eastern Range IG picked up five contractual employees at DRDO from the main gate of its integrated test range (ITR) for questioning over espionage charges. Out of them, four accused were working at the launch pad-3 of ITR, Chandipur.

More details have emerged in the Chandipur DRDO Espionage case. According to Crime Branch sources, the mysterious female operative had tracked the Integrated Test Range Director’s movement with the help of one of the accused.

Accused woman allegedly befriended a youth from Bankual area in Bhubaneswar by introducing herself as a staff of a reputed college and later looted Rs 10 lakh cash, ornaments and other valuables from his house.   

As the Crime Branch sleuths go about busting the entire ground network of the espionage ring, a three-member Indian Air Force team is learnt to have been aiding them in collecting reports about the type of information leaked by the accused before their arrest and the importance of the leads.
