Two more Nigerians have been arrested from New Delhi in connection with a case wherein a person of Balia area of Balasore district was duped of Rs 30 lakh through honey trap

The arrested persons have been identified as a Nigerian couple. The police seized a car and two laptops from them.   

Earlier, the cyber wing of the Balasore district police had arrested a Nigerian youth from Delhi on charges of luring the Balia-based resident into a honey trap and extorting money from him. Then, the police had seized two mobile phones, one laptop with VISA, a passport from the accused, who was identified as Samson Imoko Alika. 

The victim had lodged a complaint on January 13, 2022, alleging he had been honey trapped and duped of the money. 

According to the complaint, he first came in contact with a lady from the United Kingdom through Facebook and then they exchanged texts on Whatsapp. 

Then the lady sent huge amount of gifts including gold biscuits, a Rolex watch, and an iPhone. When the gifts reached Delhi airport, a person identified himself as a custom officer asked the victim to give him a custom charge to receive the gifts. The victim kept on giving lakh after lakh to receive the gifts but did not get the gifts. 

Only then did he has realised that he had been trapped and duped.
