Background of Tensions

Reports suggest that tensions had been simmering for several days between the Sarpanch of Gotha village and a rival faction. During the idol immersion programme on Friday night, members of the rival group feared a possible attack from the Sarpanch’s supporters. Chandan, who belonged to this group, was present at the event. However, it is still unclear whether he was called there or had gone on his own.

Extent of Injuries and Investigation

During the clash, Chandan reportedly sustained injuries to his hands, legs, and head. A forensic team was due to reach the scene to conduct further investigations at the time of reporting. The weapons used in the attack were also recovered from the site.

Allegations and Ongoing Police Action

The Sarpanch’s father alleged that his opponents had verbally assaulted and mocked Krishna on multiple occasions, which had created mounting tensions. The incident during the idol immersion programme triggered the deadly clash. However, the identity of the individuals who attacked and killed Chandan is yet to be confirmed.

Police have identified the names of people potentially involved and are conducting raids at multiple locations to apprehend them for questioning. The investigation remains ongoing.
