As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
The IMD has further predicted that fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall is likely to continue over northeast India, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has occurred at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Bhadrak and Deogarh.
After weakening the Deep Depression remnants of cyclonic storm Jawad will turn into a Depression. It is likely to move north-northeast wards and reach Odisha coast near Puri around noon.
The possible cyclone would reach Odisha- north Andhra Pradesh coasts in the morning hours on December 4. At present, the system lies as well marked low pressure area and it is likely to intensify into a Depression in the next few hours.
The deep depression over south Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh has moved westwards and lies centered over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh
Heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the next 24 hours over some districts of south Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh under the impact of deep depression (remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘GULAB’).
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) the cyclonic storm is likely to cross the two states –South of Odisha and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh with wind speed of 70 to 80 kmph and gusting up to 90kmph on Sunday evening (September 26).
Yesterday’s cyclonic circulation near Myanmar coast has intensified and it will concentrate in low pressure area. It will move towards the Odisha coast. The cyclonic circulation and low pressure will trigger heavy rains in several parts of Odisha from September 26.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in seven districts in the next 12 hours under the influence of the Deep Depression system over north interior Odisha.
The Met Centre has issued red warning for Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Bolangir and Sonepur districts for tomorrow.
For IMD, heavy rainfall is between 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm, very heavy rain 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm, and extremely heavy rainfall above 204.4 mm.
In just a span of the next 36-hours, a low-pressure area will develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal, and in subsequent 12 hours, the system moving west-northwest will cross Odisha on July 23. The system will induce very heavy rainfall, including thunderstorms, across the State on Friday
The north-south trough from cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal areas of Odisha & West Bengal has become less marked.
The trough at mean sea level from north Punjab to northeast Bay of Bengal across Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, north Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal persists.
