Even though cyclonic storm ‘Gulab’ has weakened into a deep depression, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that some parts of the State will continue to experience heavy rain and thunderstorm activities for the next three to four days.

As per the latest weather update, the deep depression over south Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh has moved westwards and lies centered over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh, about 90 km southeast of Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) and 65 km east-northeast of Malkangiri (Odisha).

“The system is likely to move nearly westwards and weaken into a Depression during next 6 hours and into a well-marked low pressure area during subsequent 24 hours,” said IMD.

Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next four days:

Day 1 (valid from0830 hrs IST of 27.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 28.09.2021)

Orange warning (Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada and Malkangiri.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kalahandi.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 29.09.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Bhadrak.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and Sundargarh.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.09.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.10.2021)

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Keonjhar.
