Even though the severe cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ will not make landfall and weaken gradually, the system has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a ‘yellow warning’ for heavy rainfall in some districts of Odisha.

In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain/thunderstorm has occurred at many places over the districts of coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Bhadrak and Deogarh.

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 11.05.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.05.2022up to 0830 hrs IST of 12.05.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri. Heavy rainfall is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 12.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 13.05.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore.
