Singh’s Odisha visit is said to be crucial for the State BJP ahead of the ensuing General Elections scheduled to be held in a few months.
The Odisha Mahila Congress will chalk out strategies for women voters ahead of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, said All India Mahila Congress chief, Alka Lamba in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday took a dig at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for inaugurating the Gangadhar Meher Lift irrigation in Bijepur and Cancer Hospital in Bargarh, saying the symbolic projects will hardly make any difference in people’s lives.
Speaking to the media, Manmohan Samal said, "The Prime Minister will first go to Puri to have darshan of Lord Jagannath and will later address a public meeting at Chandikhole. However, the exact date of his visit will be finalized soon.”
In the last 10 days, the Odisha government has announced financial incentives under 13 schemes and has also hiked pension allowances. It seems as if the government has loosened the purse strings ahead of the General Elections to woo voters.
At the Balikuda-Erasama constituency in Jagatsinhgpur, youth leader Sanjib Biswal, a ticket aspirant, organised a power show on the plea of a get-together against MLA Ragunandan Das. He even spoke openly against the MLA and asserted that he would win the poll by a huge margin if he is given a ticket.
As no other candidates from other parties contested for the three seats, the two nominees of the Biju Janata Dal(BJD), Debasish Samantaray and Subashish Khuntia, and the lone candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ashwini Vaishnaw were elected uncontested on Tuesday.
The BJP is working under the cluster plan and there are three Lok Sabha seats and eight Assembly constituencies in each cluster.
As per reports, the supporters of Rajnagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo are unable to internally accept the Congress leader in the party while long-serving BJD workers have strongly opposed his merger.
The BJP has set a target to win 370 Lok Sabha seats and over 400 seats for the NDA in the upcoming elections. As the current political scenario and equations are different in different states, the party has drawn up special and different battle plans accordingly.
The former minister has submitted his resignation to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. In his resignation letter, Das vented his anger on PCC President Sarat Pattanayak.
As per reports, Debasmita is interested in contesting in this Assembly Poll on a Congress ticket. She has opted for a voluntary resignation from her job and applied for a ticket to the OPCC to fight for Aul Assembly Constituency.
In an attempt to maintain transparency in candidate selection and ticket distribution, the Congress has launched a new initiative ‘Project Pragaman’ for the upcoming twin polls in Odisha.
Initially, 300 students of the NSS were taken on tours to various religious places and universities. They will visit Chandipur, Harishankar, Nrisghanath, Maa Tarini Peetha, Konark, JM University and Sambalpur University. Six buses have been engaged for the programme which will continue till February 20. All its expenses will be borne by the government.
Fed up with the apathetic attitude of the administration and political leaders, they have decided to boycott the upcoming election.
