Union Defence Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Rajnath Singh will arrive in Nabarangpur on a one-day Odisha visit today.

Singh’s Odisha visit is said to be crucial for the State BJP ahead of the ensuing General Elections scheduled to be held in a few months.

As per sources, Singh is scheduled to attend a number of party programmes in Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Baripada.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to reach Nabarangpur in Odisha from Chhattisgarh at around 11:40 am today. He will attend the party core committee meeting in Nabarangpur and review the preparedness of the party for the upcoming polls.

Following this, he will join the Vijay Sankalp Samavesh at Ambapua in Berhampur at around 12:30pm.

Singh will then move to Baripada in Mayurbanj, where he is scheduled to attend another Vijay Sankalp Samavesh at 4pm. He will address the party members there and advise them on ways to take central welfare schemes to all the people at the grassroots level.

Apart from this, Singh will also meet retired Army officials and jawans and later interact with party office bearers.

Earlier on February 13, senior BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had visited the state. He had launched a scathing attack on the Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government and accused the Chief Minister of outsourcing government.
