The workers at the unit were manufacturing firecrackers when the mishap occurred which not only destroyed the unit completely, but the resultant fire also gutted a house and huge quantities of paddy stored nearby.

The duo hailing from Tirtol of Jagatsinghpur district was heading to Cuttack on a bike when the vehicle hit a concrete mixer along a road. 

More than 40 people sustained burn injuries in a firecracker accident in Kendrapara on Wednesday. As many as 30 of them are stated to have sustained serious burn wounds, sources said.

As per reports, the mishap occurred during a firecracker competition undertaken at the immersion venue at Balia bazaar.

While the owner of the gym managed to come out, a trainer and two other employees were allegedly present inside the fitness centre. 

As per initial reports, the engine caught fire while halting at the Brajarajnagar station on Tuesday evening.

Smoke was seen billowing out and fire tenders rescued two security guards who were stuck on the sixth floor.

No exact reason for the fire breakout was ascertained immediately.

An Odia couple from Cuttack is among eight who were killed in the fire mishap in Secundarabad on Monday night.The couple has been identified as Chandan Jethi and his wife Mitali Mohapatra Jethi of Kafla Bazaar in Cuttack.

Besides, nine others also sustained burn injuries in the mishap which started from an e-bike showroom in the cellar of the five-storied building and spread to the hotel upstairs.

Before leaving the kitchen, the man makes sure to carry his daughter while shutting the door. But, in doing so he surprisingly leaves behind his wife inside the kitchen.

Luckily, all the nine fishermen jumped into the water and were later rescued safely by another boat ‘Muktimandap'.

The fire brigade had to be brought in to douse the fire at the showroom situated near the Gangadham area of Market Yard on Monday night.

The police said that 28 passengers were travelling in the bus. Of them, 21 managed to come out of the bus.
