Barabati Stadium, where India-South Africa T20I match is scheduled to be played on June 12, allegedly lacks fire safety measures

The historic Barabati stadium in Cuttack might welcome back spectators to watch their favorite cricketers in action during the T20 match between India and South Africa scheduled to be held on June 12.

Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Sanjay Behera confirmed the date of India-South Africa T20I match to be played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Putting an end to the speculations surrounding the hosting of a T20 cricket match between India and South Africa at Cuttack’s iconic Barabati Stadium in June this year, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) on Thursday said that there has been no official confirmation from the BCCI in this regard.

The announcement has brought smiles back on the faces of cricket enthusiasts in Odisha after they were left disappointed with the shifting of the India-West Indies T20 out of Cuttack.

The BCCI is expected to announce the finalised fixtures of the tour programme in a day or two

The Indian cricket team will kick off its T20 campaign against West Indies in the three-match T20 series scheduled to be held on February 15, 2022 at the historic Barabati cricket ground in Cuttack.

The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is making all efforts to make Cuttack one of the IPL venues, said its Secretary Sanjay Behera on Thursday.
