Cuttack: The 66th State Athletic Meet at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack concluded on Sunday. While host Cuttack emerged as the overall champion, Sundergarh finished as the runners-up.

Ace sprinter and Olympian Dutee Chand was adjudged best athlete in the competition.

“This championship is the foundation for the athletes who will later represent state and country at the national and international level,” said sprinter Dutee.

"I’m very happy that I have been adjudged as the best athlete at the place where I had started my career," added Dutee.

During the closing ceremony, Twin city Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty awarded the winning team and players.

According to sources, more than 1500 participants in both men’s and women’s category divided into as many as 37 teams participated in the meet.

The 3-day competition for athletes from across the state was inaugurated by Odisha DGP RP Sharma on Friday.
