Uncertainty looms large over the upcoming India-West Indies first T20I tie of the three-match Test series scheduled to be played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on February 15 in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in India.

Considering the unprecedented situation arising out of the third wave of the pandemic, the tour, fixtures and technical committee of BCCI has recently recommended the board to organise all the six matches of the limited over series of the tour at only two venues-Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

The BCCI is expected to announce the finalised fixtures of the tour programme in a day or two. If BCCI accepts the recommendation of the committee, the first T20I match of the series may shift from the historical Barabati Stadium in the Millenium City.

However, Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is yet to give any comment on the possibilities of the shifting of the match from the home stadium.

The ODI series against the touring West Indies side will begin from February 6. Originally the series was to begin in Ahmedabad, the second ODI was to be played in Jaipur on February 9 and the third ODI was to be played in Kolkata on February 12.

Similarly, the T20 Internationals series was scheduled to be played in Cuttack, Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram respectively.
