Vande Bharat Express will soon connect the pilgrim town Puri in Odisha. This information was share by Union Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday (Aug 19).

The 'Jan Aashirwad Yatra' by the newly-inducted Union Ministers will be taken out in Odisha from August 19 to 22. 

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the average annual budget allocation in the railways for new lines, gauge conversion and doubling works, during 2014-19, has increased to Rs 26,026 crore per year from Rs 11,527 crore per year during 2009-14, which is 126 per cent more than average annual budget outlay of 2009-14.

In a move to prevent and deal with incidents of crime inside trains, the Ministry of Railways has approved works for the installation of CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) cameras in all train coaches including EMUs and passenger trains.

India's tally of COVID-19 infections rose by 39,097 in a day to reach 3,13,32,159, while 546 more people succumbed to the viral disease during the same period taking the death toll to 4,20,016 on Saturday, according to Union Health Ministry data.

Soon after Railways got its new Minister, the ministry introduced new work timings for its employees. After Rajya Sabha member from Odisha, Ashwini Vaishnaw assumed office as Union Minister for Railways; he directed that all the offices & staff of minister's office will work in two shifts.

When questioned about Twitter not complying with the new IT law, the Minister hinted that everyone has to follow new guidelines.
