Amidst the ongoing political tussle over BJD’s support to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the Rajya Sabha election, Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal on Wednesday said that it will have no impact on the upcoming general elections 2024.

To a media query on the reason behind the ruling party’s backing BJP candidate for Upper House, Samal said, “BJP’s candidate Ashiwini Vaishnaw will file his nomination tomorrow and we will win in such a political scenario.”

The state BJP chief further said that there is no chance of any alliance with BJD.

“We (BJP) have no support of anyone. In politics, nobody will refuse any support. BJP will fight alone and if anyone wants to fight, they can file nomination tomorrow,” said Samal.

Samal further clarified that there will be no alliance between BJP and BJD.

“The people of Odisha want double-engine government under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. The BJP has given a candidate and we will fight the election,” said Samal.

The State BJP chief said that, “It will be appropriate to ask BJD supremo over their decision to support BJP candidate. Without ED and CBI, we have formed governments in 3 states. Now we will form government in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.”
