Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named Ashwini Vaishnaw as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha election from Odisha on Wednesday, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) announced its support for Vaishnaw’s candidature. The state unit of Congress sealed the opportunity to slam what it called 'BJP-BJD bonhomie'.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the newly-appointed in-charge of the Odisha Congress, Ajoy Kumar wrote, “BJP-BJD bonhomie! The ‘Tactical Larger plan’ of the two erstwhile ‘married alliance’ is on the move!.”

Kumar further said that the BJD has always backed the BJP.

“Now the Odias understand why CBI- ED never conducted a raid on the CM and his close aide Mr Pandian even though the state witnessed ‘Massive Scams’,” Kumar wrote.

Earlier today, the saffron party released its Rajya Sabha nomination list for Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. The BJP said that the Central Election Committee of the party has given its approval to five names, including Ashwini Vaishnaw, to contest the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
