Hyena scare at Palasuni area of Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Palasuni area under Mancheswar police limits here after a hyena was spotted at Bhoi sahi area on Sunday evening.

The hyena seems to have lost its way. The full-grown 4 feet long animal was spotted by some local residents and they ran away to save themselves from possible attack. Two youths were injured while running away.

“Its height is about 4 feet. When it attempted to attack us, we chased the animal with sticks. The hyena ran towards Puri road. We are panicked much as we are living with our small kids”, Azad Khan, a local resident, said.

Another eyewitness, Ramesh Sahu, said “I spotted the hyena of about 4 feet long 3.5 feet height when I light my torch. I shouted then”.

On being informed, Forest officials launched a search operation to trace the hyena, but in vain.

“We rushed to spot with our team after local people informed us. We are searching the animal following the pug-marks. We suspect that the animal might come from nearest Chandaka forest”, Prasanna Parida, Rasulgarh Forester, said.
