A miscreant posing as a delivery boy looted gold ornaments worth Rs 7-8 lakh from Sushant Khara's house in Guli Patana Sahi, Odisha. The incident occurred on Friday but was reported to Umerkote Police on Saturday.

Police received a complaint from Sunil Sahu that his house was broken open by some miscreants on May 14. A lady teacher was staying in his house on rent. Armed robbers decamped with gold ornaments and cash from the teacher’s house at gunpoint.

In Odisha, during the first phase of polling, BJP candidate Narasingha Bhatra from Jharigaon was allegedly attacked by BJD workers. This incident and another attack on BJP agents in Berhampur marked election-related violence. Police complaints were filed and investigations are ongoing.

In the first phase elections in Odisha, tribal voters hold significant sway in districts like Nabarangpur, Koraput, and others. Discontent over government apathy towards tribal development and the PESA Act's poor implementation has fueled voter sentiment. Major parties vie for their crucial votes amidst promises and grievances.

Two cases of Rubella and one of measles were detected in Nabarangpur, Odisha, with samples taken on April 29 testing positive. Health officials are monitoring the situation closely as pregnant women face significant risks from Rubella.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a rally in Nabarangpur, expressed confidence that the BJP will govern Odisha and appoint the state's first BJP CM, emphasizing local leadership and criticizing the BJD's governance. He highlighted the party's manifesto promises including MSP hikes and central scheme implementations.

BJP leader Balabhadra Majhi said, “This shows the shallow attitude of the BJD. The allegation made against the Home Minister is fictitious. Such allegations based on a doctored video are meant to scare people and to extract votes from them.”

As a part of its strategy, the grand old party has lined up prominent and veteran leaders like Priyanka Gandhi, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who will hit the campaign trail for their party nominees in the south, where a major chunk of the electorate are Telugu speaking people. 

The accident took place near Jamdora in Nabarangpur. Eight girl students were going in the van to their exam centre in Umerkote to appear for the ICSE exam.

His father Santosh Patra is a priest at the Ganesh temple in Raju Sahi. Following in the footsteps of his father for some years, Asutosh has managed to acquire skills in divine worship, rituals, and mantra chanting. A class-6 student, he also performs well academically.

The names of young leaders coming to the forefront are Subhashri Mishra, (daughter of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Jaynarayan Mishra), Dr Debasmita Sharma (daughter of former Congress MLA Devendra Sharma), and Lipika Majhi (daughter of former Congress MLA Bhujabal Majhi).

“We have worked in every village, every district during the days when BJP was not a big political party. We never have thought that the BJP would form a government at the Centre on its own. Exactly like that, BJP will form government in Odisha too,” Singh said.

Saroj Mohanty, a resident of Kendrapara said, “Crores of Odias who love Lord Jagannath are hurt by daily rituals of Srimandir getting affected often. Why is this happening again and again? The matter should be investigated. Those responsible for this should be punished."

Manohar Padhani, a resident of Karmari under Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur, is one of them. One day, a sore appeared in his mouth. On medical examination, he was diagnosed with cavity cancer. He was going through excruciating pain and had déjà vu every moment. But he did not lose hope.  

Swinging into action following the robbery, the personnel of the district police chased the robbers and nabbed them from a jungle near Dabugaon.
