The medical team assigned to a diarrohea contaminated village in Nabarangpur district could not reach out to help the locals on Monday as the village was marooned due to low pressure-induced heavy rainfall in the region.

The incident reported from Tulasipadar village under Pappadahandi block has now become talk of the town after a video of the same went viral on social media platforms.

According to sources, the situation in the village was so serious that the medical team could not reach the people and they had to pack and hurl the medicine packets towards the villagers.

The medical team also enquired about the condition of the villagers using a megaphone.

“Not only me, the villagers are also happy and praising the efforts of the medical team.
We are repeatedly announcing and enquiring about their health condition,” said Kali Prasad behera, Nabarangpur CDMO.

To reach the Tulasipadar village, one has to walk on kuccha road for over one and half kilometer from the national highway and cross a river which runs in the midway.

Due to incessant rain, the river was in spate and water level was flowing above four feet in the village.

Vehicular movement also came to a standstill after the bridge over the river was submerged in the floodwaters.

As per reports, as many aNs 20 people have reportedly been affected by the water-borne disease.

The medical team has been regularly visiting the village from August 2 and giving treatment to the locals.
