Three Odia labourers killed as two vehicles collide in Chhattisgarh

At least three persons were killed and 16 others sustained serious injuries after a mini goods vehicle carrying them collided with a tractor and overturned at Bakawand village in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Purna Bhatra of Kera village, Dhanai Bhatra and Dayabati Sarabu of Sariguda village of Nabarangpur district. 

According to sources, the incident occurred between Kinjoli and Rajnagar under the Bakawand police station area when some farm workers were returning home.

As per preliminary information, the mini goods vehicle, with several labourers on board, was heading to Odisha when the incident occurred, sources added.

Following the mishap, the injured were rushed to hospital. However, three succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, sources informed, adding that the condition of two other victims is critical.

Meanwhile, the last rites of the three deceased were performed on Sunday night. 

"Three persons died in the accident and their last rites have been performed. The 16 injured are undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Jagdalpur. Of the 16, the condition of two remains critical," informed Manohar Randhari, Dabugam MLA.
